| We originated on the local-hobby-shop forums, with just a couple of guys just having fun. A small group of RC Drift hobbyists started to meet up and have a few small meets here and there with about 3-7 guys in June/2006. Then we started to grow as more and more people were discovering the hobby! Soon later Matt was holding his bimonthly meets at Apollo Hobbies in Burnaby. Bringing out the wooden track every Saturday. The attendance grew to about twice the original size, we were getting 10-15 people out per meet Saturdays at Apollo.
As we started to grow so did the meets, instead of just drifting in a parking lot we were trying to get into hobby shows and have competitions. At First things didn't work out and the attendance was not good enough. Then it started with some smaller local competitions just among us drifters. Then it began! we held our first public RC Drift show/demo at the DTP car show at BC Place.

This was a great event and it pulled a lot of new members to the great hobby of RC drifting! Soon after we noticed how much action our little section on the local-hobby-shop forums and decided to break off onto our own personal forum! With the efforts of our main group of guys back then we created the forum and thus on Apr 06, 2007 one10drift was born!
Now we were really starting to grow and started to look into doing more public demonstrations and competitions. Events in malls and festivals like the Chinatown festival and Aberdeen mall! This brought more and more new people into the one10drift group! We got a lot of people who would only be around for a while and fade off but out of every bunch the was a person who stayed to be a permanent member and help get one10drift where it is today!

During all of these bigger events we(one10drift and members) still held regular meets at Apollo Hobbies, in peoples basements and on streets and parking lots! This allowed a more beginner friendly place to drift as a show/competition can be a little stressful on someone new. Now all of the one10drift members were itching to go out every weekend and even weeknights! One problem was the winter, its usually too cold and rainy to drift outdoors so one of our main members found a place we can drift indoors at an Abbotsford church, and we are still holding these meets today!
As our member-list grew, the locations of the members widened as we started seeing more and more people from places like Chilliwack and further! Now our members all wanted to drift but driving hours to a small meet was out of the question we started seeing more local meets that were convenient for the people who lived around the area! just small local get together with around 5 guys just having fun!

Over the months we grew and grew getting invited back and organizing more and more shows and demonstrations like the DTP car show, and finding new places to have our local meets, but we also lost some great locations like Apollo Hobbies, where it all started. So we had to find other places to suit our needs and this really brought one10drift together, regular members were looking and finding great local places to drift and organizing meets and even some shows themselves! This encouraged other members to do the same all communicating with each other and gaining lots of information and keep our hobby going strong!
Now to this day we are growing more and more with over 200 members and almost 30 posts per day on our forum! All of this in thanks to everyone who puts in the effort, we are all volunteers who donate our time and work to make this hobby what it is today, no one gets paid, we make admissions to meets and shows just to pay the cost of what it takes to run them, whether it be tape or paying to use ares we try to make it as fun as possible so everyone can enjoy it! As time goes on we gain lots of members but we also loose some members, this goes for the great places we drift as well. But that's all part of the hobby and if we gave up because of this we wouldn't be where we are today, the biggest RC drift club on the West-coast of Canada!

So we encourage YOU to put in some effort and help our hobby and club grow and make it better and better! If you can, come out to the meets and show support by helping to set up or tear down it makes it easier on all of us!(we understand if you can't). Find out about shows we can attend and Organize Some Local meets! even if its just 5 guys having FUN, you have to remember that's where it all started, just a couple of RC drifters having FUN!_________________ Tamiya DF03RA/Yokomo MR4TC-SD ~Thank god for pistons, how else would we stop my rx7 ~ |
